I think the reason I can't do complete silence is because of my tinnitus. It's really bad if there isn't white noise.

I do guess that is true if the character that is killed is for a reason and not just another casualty for no reason.
I need to get back to reading GoT, but I know I'll have to reread the first two books before I continue. So I'll keep putting it off. lol.

I did enjoy reading GoT but I hated that Martin never actually finished writing them.
If he evers decide to publish the last volumes I simply won't remember what had happened before, and I won't feel like reading them at all.

I'm on a mystery kick lately.
This time it is, "Death in the Stocks", also by Georgette Heyer.
This one started out with the victim already dead, but from everything I'm learning about him, I'm really quite glad he's dead, so he's no loss and I don't mind.
I'm pretty entertained by the victim's two half-siblings, honestly. They're my favorite characters so far.
I hope neither of them turns out to be the murderer -or, if they do, I hope they get away with their crime.

@Li Li:
I enjoy it when the bad guys get away. It's a nice turn :D

I haven't read in two days now :mcdead:
Oh, I hate when this happens, cause my bedtime reading time feels so good.
*sighs*

I hope you get a chance to read soon, then.
I definitely miss it, when I don't get a chance to read in a while.

So far it's looking like neither of them are the culprits. Right now, it's about even honors in terms of suspecting the respective fiance's of the two half-siblings (each for a different reason, of course), and the victim's mistress.
There's a chance that a "family member who was supposed to have died years ago but might not actually be dead" is in there too but that really smells of "red herring" to me.
So I think it's one of the romantic interests of the family.

So far!

We'll see if new clues are introduced that change my mind later. :P

I do hope it's a red herring though.
I usually dislike when a new character pops right in the end just to reveal himself as the true bad guy. Even if he was somewhat hinted.
I've always prefered the style that Agatha Christie set in her time: plenty of probably culprits, you know a bit about each but you are just missing the ultimate hint that would bind it all together. It was a satisfying kind of mistery for me.

Yes!
The classic cozy mystery style.
As demonstrated by Agatha Christie, Dorothy Sawyers, Ngaio Marsh, Michael Innes, Edmund Crispin, etc.

Popping in to report my progress. I guess you could say I finished another book... Although I truly only read half of it, as the other half is just a list of magickal rituals so it's boring and doesn't really expand on the topic of the book. I prefer to go with my own gut in rituals (aside from the fact I rarely perform them) so I have no interest in reading these. It's not like I'm going to use them. I might glance for reference in the future but that's it.
So... I'm cheating yet again, lol. But that only means I'll be able to add some books to my list. For now I'm adding two positions.
Spoiler: TBR update2
1. E. N. Aron The Highly Sensitive Person <PL-T>
2. T. Adeyemi Children of Virtue and Vengeance <EN>
3. B. Baranowski W kręgu upiorów i wilkołaków. Demonologia słowiańska <PL>
4. Y. Boland Moonology: Working with the Magic of Lunar Cycles <PL-T>
5. D. Morrison Everyday Sun Magic: Spells & Rituals for Radiant Living <PL-T>
6. A. Edelman Sny. Czego możemy się z nich dowiedzieć? <PL>
7. P. Bucki, W. Pączek Złap równowagę <PL>
I'm not sure which book I'll take up next. I'm still making notes from the last one XD

I would skip stuff if it was something like that tbh so I wouldn't consider it cheating.

You know what really annoys me are those fake stickers that come on books that say "now streaming on ---". So annoying. I'm only thinking about this because I have the first book of the wheel of time series when my too young self tried to read it when I was 12. Always meant to get back to it, but with it being a tv series now I dug it out to read if I get through my little list for this year. But of course, all the new editions of the book in the series have the fake sticker and I can't find any without.

Maybe it's not cheating but it feels weird to leave a book marked on half of it :mcheh: I never was for non-fiction books so I'm probably just not used to it.

A sticker isn't as bad as the whole cover being the movie/game adaptation of the book... that's what pisses me off the most. Although stickers are a pain, too.
