Yeah, medicaments do expire.
And you are not supposed to throw them to the garbage can either, because they can be harmful to plants and animals, and pollute the water.
I don't know about other countries, but here you must return them to the pharmacy.

I have a quite complete first-aid kit, but it's mostly stuff such as bandaids, surgical tape, scissors, etc.
Not many medicines though.

There's a super bitter substance you can buy to paint on things so that if a baby tries to pick it up and put it in their mouth they'll spit it out again and avoid it....
I don't remember what it's called.

But my sister got a bunch of that and painted all the lower cupboard door edges and handles with that, and her kids just never really went there until they were old enough to listen when you explained what was dangerous and what was okay to play with.

I should ask her how often she had to re-coat things at the beginning, and if it stained her cupboards...

All my medical things are in the bathroom - but mine is right next to the kitchen anyway so it's still easy to get to.

It's important to not use expired products - my mum is a MENACE for hoarding things (because she bought like 8 of them on sale or something) but then they just sit un-used forever.

We have about four times a year a day for the community to come drop off their old expired medications and pills and such-like; it's kind of interesting because they aren't all done by the same place, like you'd expect. That's probably better though, since people who might miss the announcement from one of them might hear about the other....

Proper disposal of hazardous waste is a real issue!

I don't know how often we've had public announcements about how you can't just blithely throw away old used batteries, but I still see people doing it all the time.
It drives me crazy, because those people are the first ones to complain about the consequences.
So careless about proper disposal, when it takes so little to just start up a can for your used batteries and drop them off once a year... but then you complain about special levies and tax measures when it comes time to clean up the water system which got contaminated because of your carelessness?

Some people are so selfish when it comes to their comfort that they don't even consider moving a finger. But then they complain that things are not done the way they want them, or that they are charged.

I think society is getting worse in that sense.
I mean, back in the day people would clean the road ahead their own houses, but now they won't - so we all pay more taxes to have cleaning services.
Which is ok, it's another way to do it, but it's definetely more expensive - and cleaning in front of your house is not that hard...
