yeah when i was testing out the new items, i went through the list of colors before deciding on aqua/lilac/blush/graywhite. XD so that's what i'm going with when i make an avatar with the new set lol.

I really want to use blush more too, but I don't have enough matching items right now... So I'm still bidding my time LOL

i don't have a lot of blush either but i can always make do by using the other more older colors like aqua and gray white. xD lilac too, although too much lilac would just make everything a swatch of lilac. i like to keep some balance lol.

That balance is so hard to get... I always find myself struggling between color cohesiveness and variety.

Like if an avi has just 1-2 main colors, unless they're really contrasting it tend to blur (like mine atm LOL)
But most color pairing that occur together tend to be more blend-y than contrasting? Like lilac, periwinkle, aqua etc...

And then sometimes when I'm trying to pair more contrast-y colors (like this maroon and denim avi that's still a wip) it tends to get really... clashy really easily? I don't know it's a weird science XD

yeah its hard to maintain the balance, which is why the main thing i have to remember is that the background should be something simple or something that completely contrasts against the main part of the avatar. so that nothing blends into one color swatch lol.

Yesssss, right now I'm really liking the lace backgrounds from purikura. I find that they're good for being plain but still interesting!

It's a shame sometimes though because some backgrounds are so cool (like this MT's) but their busy-ness makes it hard to use. I'm still trying to figure out a good way to use the new BG

Lol I don’t recall the lace backgrounds tbh. I literally only go into the regular stores when I feel like there’s something missing and I decide to do a mini splurge. XD

Yeah I feel that way too sometimes, like some bgs are so busy and when I make a just-as-busy avatar, the background doesn’t work out lol. So I have to pick a simpler one. XD;;

There are two in the shop, one with horizontal lace stripes and one with vertical ones. I find them really nice because they're plain enough to be very versatile, but also fancy enough to add a nice flair? XD

And yeah I think the way homestays work really changed. At least, with what we've experienced here it has. It used to be a very amiable "host family" experience, but now it's like the kids are using your house as a personal hotel and treating you like their maids D:

I miss the first homestay student we had. She's almost done uni now I think, and still visits when she's in the province! That was a really nice experience :D

Okay, yeah i dunno, maybe i should do another splurge one of these…xD;; having more frame/background options that are more neutral would be good. XD

Sometimes I like to finish the body of an avi, then just go to purikura to try on all the backgrounds until I find one that works XD

But doing that somehow never ends with me buying just one BG, instead like ten different things to mix and match again back in the wardrobe


And yeaaaaaah it's not for everyone. One of the last straws for us was when the students clogged the sink to their bathroom really badly, and hiring a plumber revealed that they've been cutting their hair and just washing it down the drain, so there was this hair-brick of a clog DDDD: It was insane!
