Yeah we have a food bank that’s close to our location. And the person who comes will pick up twice a week. I THINK she also drops off some of the food at a local church in her area, if we either have too much food or the food bank is closed.

I also pack my lunch at dinner the night before. Whatever we ate for dinner, i’ll be having it for lunch as well. XD;;

Yeah i get it. Like week old, yeah don’t eat that. But only 1-2 days? That doesn’t have to be wasted. 8u

I have a rule for myself is that up to 3 days for uncooked meat and another 6 days for cooked meat/meals. I once gave myself horrible food poisoning by eating something that was in my fridge for over a week and not remembering when I originally cooked it. So now I make a point to remember when I pull food stuff out of the freezer and when I've cooked something. Usually 99% gets ate before then...well before my sister and nephew came to stay with me.

Rubie - Companies do that sort of thing so that they can count customers contributions to their donation reporting for tax rebates. Companies are shit, bro.

Also those bags of groceries usually suck.


I hate when I go to a food bank and they just give out the same thing to everyone. I know that's more fair but there are a lot of things that I just cannot eat. I'd rather that portion go to people who can eat it than to me where it's just going to go to waste.


I have also gotten an upset tummy from old food. But thankfully my stomach is used to abuse so it usually doesn't bother me that much. I grew up poor so I'm used to questionable food.

The food bank my grandmother used to help out at was nice because it took into account orders and preferences. If you specified an allergy they would avoid giving you anything that set it off. Also if you selected that you really needed a certain item they would do their best to get it for you.

Yeah I know it's for that and for them to say they donated "xyz" amount to make themselves look good. I usually say no and donate to local organizations when I can.

I feel like my stomach has become more delicate the older I get. Certain foods I can look at and just know my stomach is going to be punishing me for it.

That sounds really nice.
All the places I've been to here are very old school. Just all paper and not great. And a lot of the workers are very judgey. I don't like it.


Yeah, you should totally donate on your own instead of donating through a company. (if you're able to donate, of course)

I have gotten more sensitive as I've gotten older but I was starting off from a very nothing can hurt my stomach stance. lol.

For me there are a few things that hurt my stomach but its nothing compared to the foods my husband has to avoid. He's super sensitive and super picky so dinner is always a nightmare topic.

How does one work at a food bank and be judgey? That feels like it defeats the purpose.

I can understand being picky cuz of a sensitive stomach tbh. I am picky about certain things because of that, but I am a sucker for punishment.

His issue is he likes the things he's sensitive to. We have to avoid most fried things and dairy but he absolutely loves fried chicken, french fries, ice cream, and mac and cheese and just suffers the consequences every time he eats them.

Whenever we drive by that food bank, I always see people loitering or lining up there. And I’m like “we donate to that place, allowing people who need food get it”.

So like I feel we do some good to our community by donating our food waste.
