Theoretically
They've been told by dad that if either are caught lying they're not allowed back. Ever. Especially since both lie and will change the stories when busted

Be better if my brother actually stepped in and parented
They can't send them to their mom's mom cuz she liked to terrorize them and found it funny and now she's a JW and trying to convert them, which my brother and his wife are very much against

Jehovah's Witness
Aka yet another cult based on extremely warped "teachings" of christian mythology

oh that is disturbing indeed, i've heard about it from survivors who left the fold and it is harsh.

Once had a classmate who was JW, she wanted out but as that would mean to be shunned by everyone in her family she didn't dare. In the end out religion teacher intervened and had her taken in by some nice people he knew.
It was a massive thing for a bunch of 12 and 13 year olds. :}

Yeah, that shunning thing is considered abuse in...Norway? As in they lost their religion grants because they refuse to change the shunning thing, especially towards children and now they're butthurt

yeah that is abusive, it keeps people trapped because they lose any support systems and are left alone and destitute if they leave.

also why these cults only want people to interact and have friendships/relationships with people in the fold (talking to people with the goal of converting them is the exception).

because if everyone you know is in the fold, and you were never allowed to know anyone outside of it, then you have no support system outside. so you'll stay within the fold just to survive, since you have no resources to leave. it's diabolical.
