And I live on the edge by Nebraska. Here, you're more likely to find places that have below-ground levels than not. though we do still have trailer parks that don't.

I eventually plan on moving to New Mexico, mostly for the sake of my joints and mental health.

We test the tornado sirens monthly on the first Saturday at Noon here in town, and despite that fact and the fact that I grew up here, I still hate the sound and have an anxiety episode.

They use the tornado sirens every day at noon. x'D

But when its an actual tornado the sirens go on for longer than it does when they set it off at noon. xD

Wow do they need to test them every day? I’d be annoyed tbh.

When I was in public school, they constantly tested fire drills. I was a substitute teacher for one school, and they really caught on fire once lol.

It's some sort of tradition of having the sirens go off to let people know it's time for lunch.. started back when this use to be farm land o3o

I don't even notice it anymore.. =w= like the trains..

Here, the sirens are placed throughout the town, so there's not really any place in town where you can't hear them when they go off.

also, if anyone saw the news, Perry, Iowa, is about 2.5 hours northeast of me. I've been processing what happened this morning.

i read about what happened in iowa when i was reading on the local news website. it was probably mentioned on the chinese radio news as well, which plays every half an hour with anything news related.

i sometimes hear a random siren going off here. i dunno where its coming from tbh, i just keep thinking it might be coming from the warehouses or the trainyard. xD;;
