Oh my, I already have troubles with some people's American English so I can definitely imagine.
(For the record, I'm French, but I live in Japan and I work in a hotel, so communication is primarily in English with guests and Japanese with my colleagues, but some people's English is pretty hard to understand, even considering oral communication is my weakest point in English)

Interestingly enough, speaking is easier than I thought it would be. Writing and reading is a whole different story but just speaking did come pretty easily to me.

yeah writing and reading is harder. i mean, i can barely remember anything about how to read and write chinese. XD;; but i still have to speak cuz my parents speak it.

I can totally see that XD
Though to be honest Chinese sounds really hard to speak too.
Speaking Chinese would definitely help at work though, and I could surprise people even more than now.

That totally makes sense. It's also a very useful language to know.
Though there's only good things about knowing more languages.

Well useful in the sense that my family and extended relatives (especially the older generations) will very likely refuse to speak to me unless I speak in Chinese lol.
