Setting fireworks off at an earlier time wouldn't be fun as it wouldn't wake up and piss off the neighbours. People are inconsiderate dicks, I swear.

It is, because Canada used to be a British colony so sometimes we have holidays or special days dedicated to monarchs. Queen Victoria’s birthday is around this time so we have a Victoria Day weekend lol.

But yeah like you could set off your fireworks at 8pm or like the moment it gets dark enough. But 1am? Like srs man.

Okay, that explains it. I forgot about the colony stuff. It's interesting though that you still celebrate the holiday even if you're a completely different country now. Seems like it should be updated or something, idk
