Honestly, that's cool, too. I never really wanted the whole marriage thing growing up. But I really like this guy. And he didn't want to be away from me and so he was only applying for jobs around where we were and I didn't want to be the reason he held himself back from cool jobs that he could be doing. So I promised him I'd go with him if he got a job elsewhere, and he ended up getting a job in Finland. So I figured if I were gonna go halfway across the world with this guy, I might as well marry him and it'd make it much easier for me to follow him if I'm his spouse.

I can understand that. I was with a guy for three months and I got pregnant. I've known our child longer than I've known her dad. I never really considered being a parent because I didn't want to be a parent, though now it's the most important thing I do. It's been rough, and I don't think it gets easier.

Oh gosh. Is he not interested in being a coparent? Doesn't sound like it if you've known your kid longer than her dad.

Yeah, I've never wanted to be a parent myself, either. But I never wanted to be married, either, so who knows? I just hope that I take it as seriously as you seem to if that ever happened. I hope you have people in your life who can give you wisdom and also a helping hand, even if it's not from the kid's other parent.

Having a baby without a support system is almost impossible in the United States. Luckily I have parents that love the both of us that've let us stay here while I finish college and find a place for the both of us.

No, my child's father immediately defaulted full custody to me hours after I had her. Even if he did, I wouldn't let him because he keeps dangerous company and I wasn't hanging with the right crowd at the time.

Yikes! I'm glad you're out of that crowd, then. For both of your sakes. I hope he's at least paying child support, though.

Yeah, I knew this one person who had a baby with someone who wasn't a very good partner, and when she tried to leave him, his entire family stopped supporting her and she ended up homeless for a bit, and had to get back with him. She's gotten away from that toxic relationship now and I think she's in a good place relationship-wise. I couldn't imagine what that was like.

Nah, he doesn't pay child support. The courts would probably make me tolerate joint custody and I'd rather be broke than have that happen.

Yeah, fair. Husband's mom did the same thing with his dad, but Dad honestly isn't a bad person. They're good friends now and he does his best to connect with Husband and me. On my last day in Canada, he brought his lovebird over to my place for me to say bye. I love his lovebird. Such a sassy little spoilt princess.

I LOVE birds. I've been wanting to get one but I want to have the right space for it if I do. I wish I lived in Australia where they naturally occur, because I love cockatoos. c:

She is so cute. I love her. We've got an enclosed balcony where we are, and I'd LOVE to turn it into a pet patio.
