Usually you can play with someone else and there’s a bar behind you when you dance bc ppl like to keep their balance and put their weight on it bc the game is all about hitting the arrows with your feet.

Rather clever of whoever came up with it; simple pressure sensors aren't a difficult technological hurdle to cross, and the combinations can get quite complex.

Ah I remember those soft mats. I remember the Wii had that dance game too and it was like a very shiny plastic mat lol.

DDR does (did?) have a version where one player uses both mats. My brother tried it, said it was really hard, especially since the mats were new and kept slipping lol

Yeah from what I remember, those mats were slippery altho I never personally played them, I saw how they looked. With the switch tho, you just need to hold the controllers and dance that way. XD

Same with the Wii
360 used the Kinect, so it did motion sensing. Really annoying for limited space, though, because overlap meant at least one player wasn't sensed and there was a good chance you'd accidentally slip into another player "slot" and have a big mess in the score department

i don't think the Switch had that. when i played with my sister, we never had that kind of overlap. so i guess the Switch did better with it lol.
