After Pokemon Go came out, I kept waiting for things like phone apps where, instead of seeing floating pokemon through the camera, you'd see projected paint-by-numbers and could do murals on your own walls at home...

But they never showed up.
Or maybe I just didn't hear about it.

You mean augmented reality? I haven't seen what you're talking about specifically but I've seen ads for hardware stores using augmented reality for similar

Is that still the case or was it like that back then when it released?
When it was initially released I tried it but 1) it didn't work ony phone and I had to use my mom's and 2) there weren't many spawns
Then I forgot about the game entirely until my nephew wanted to start playing and needed an adult to be with him. The game is a lot more fun now that we play together and there are definitely more spawns and stops in my area now then there were back then.

Still the case. When it initially released i couldn't get through character creation before it crashed

Even though I like playing now it has its down sides for sure ><
