I'm not just "American".

I'm Mexican, German, Irish and Native American.
As far as I know none of those have anything similar.
Though we do get the 5th of may and Day of the Dead in Mexico.

Cute outfit, Moi.

Aha, well, I don't know many Americans who are just "American" nowadays --though I don't know as many Caucasian people as I'd like.

Ah, that's cool.

No Americans are "just" Americans. Unless they were pure bred first natives through and through. America is a land of immigrants. Just like Canada.

Dia de los Muertos.
It does seem pretty cool, but I've never celebrated.
You also get to dress up and paint your face from what I recall.

Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars honoring
the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and
beverages of the departed and visiting graves with these as gifts.
They also leave possessions of the deceased.

I know that my ancestors aren't in their graves, though.
So it's kind of pointless a little to me to visit graves.
But at the same time, I think it's a way of honoring the deceased.

I really want to know my bloodline.
Especially the Native American part.

I do know I'm part Choctaw and Chickasaw.
But my dad is either Apache or Comanche.

I'd love to know more about my ancestors and who they are and what they did.

@Zia: That's right! I kinda get confused when Caucasian Americans complain about immigration because of that. XD;

@Moi: Aside from all the skull things, the treats are what stands out to me. XD I still remember them from that episode of Dead Like Me. Also, I also saw a couple of the holiday stuffs around when I visited this Hispanic area of my city.

I wish I could delve into the past and see things.
It'd be so much more helpful.

Aha, I sometimes think about that, but I think that I wouldn't get along with people in the old days. My modern belief system and culture would clash pretty hard against theirs.

Mika: inorite? Just because they aren't the visible minorities. :qstr:

I know my family is Korean through and through because I know my last name was created in the Sila Dynasty. My mother's last name is one of the last names the royal blood line adopted when they were exiled. I do think there are some Indian blood in me, though. There's this myth that a princess Ayuthala from India came to Korea to be married to a Jang and that's why all Jangs have wavy hair. My hair (and my dad's hair) is naturally wavy so I figure a Jang must have married into our family some time in the past. But other than that, there's really nothing about either of my parents' last names.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN PEASANTS ARE EQUAL TO THE SCHOLARS?!?

Man, that's pretty cool, knowing how far your family history goes back to.

So you're a descendant of royalty?

Wait, peasants-scholars what?

It'd be great to be descended from royalty.
Or someone who did something great.
