I've always wondered about tempura - was that as a result of Western influence, or did the Japanese coincidentally stumble across this style of cooking as the Westerners did? Deep-frying stuff just seems like such an... American thing.

Hm, if I ever get the chance to eat at your dining table, I shall come with an empty stomach. Homemade sushi~! Nothing better. My favourite of all time is salmon avocado sushi. I think it's also the favourite of everyone in my area, because my local sushi restaurant/takeaway makes 80% of their sushi rolls salmon avocado... and still manage to sell out by the end of lunchtime. The combination is a match made in heaven. What's your favourite kind of sushi? ^^
